Board President’s Message

The VertiBRAS and InvertiBRAS Calendar was made possible by the many contributions of “BRAtistes” since the inception of Show Us Your BRA! ™ in 1998. Many thanks to you all for your generous spirits and your humor and creativity. Your support makes this calendar possible! There were so many fabulous creations that have been featured since our first calendar in 2000, the Board decided to choose this theme for our 2012 Calendar.

The Breast Form Fund, a nonprofit organization, was created in 1994 in response to the financial needs of Massachusetts breast cancer survivors. Underserved women, it was felt, should have the same opportunities for a dignified silhouette as fully insured women. Prostheses and post-mastectomy bras are a medical necessity after surgery, and hopefully, for many continuing years throughout a women’s lifetime. The Breast Form Fund tries to answer these needs by providing a grant, for a specific client, through the Certified Mastectomy Fitter’s (CMF) request.

The Board of Directors of The Breast Form Fund has had a positive relationship with the ALL4One Alliance, which was formed in 2009.  There is a continuing evolvement in our desire to offer breast forms and bras to as many women as possible, and we feel that our future will be to continue in this relationship with the All4One Alliance.  At the same time, the BFF will continue to reach out to doctors, hospitals, support groups, oncologists, and all certified mastectomy fitters in Massachusetts to inform them about the availability of funding for women who need our services. To date, the Fund has helped almost 500 women!

Our philosophy is to assist women, in feeling good about themselves, one woman at a time. Many women have come to us feeling low, with bras stuffed with socks and shoulder pads, and have left fitting rooms with tears, smiles and a higher posture, having their sense of dignity restored.

Our cause is serious and our fundraising way to reach out is with humor, cleverness, and a desire to make you smile while keeping track of your year with our 2012 calendar. Breast Cancer is a serious disease, and while research is enormously crucial to treatment and finding a cure, The Breast Form Fund is dedicated to assist the woman living with a breast cancer diagnosis to stand up tall and proud and to live fully, one day at a time.
